Andy Murray’s Muscle-Building Success Story

UK tennis star Andy Murray revealed last week the secret of his greatly enhanced physique – sushi and muscle building protein supplements.

To help his body-building programme, Murray has taken to eating 6,000 calories of protein a day, which is more than twice as much as the average person requires. He eats up to 50 pieces of sushi a day, bolstered with cereals, pasta and chicken, as well as whey protein shakes and other supplements to boost his muscle development.

The 24-year-old’s commitment to a combination of gruelling training, protein-heavy foods and supplements enabled him to gain half a stone in muscle, leading to his current weight of 13st 7lb.

When it comes to choosing the right supplements for muscle gain, athletes and body-builders should ensure they contain the correct balance of carbohydrates and protein, around two thirds of the former and a third of the latter.

Whey protein is an excellent supplement for this sort of muscle-building regime, and is available in the form of some very tasty shakes.
