Scots Body-Builder Takes the Natural Path

Body-building Scots welder Andy Williams revealed this week his anticipation at qualifying for the British National Body building Championships later in the year, following his first place victory last week at the Welsh Over 40s Masters crown in Newport.

Andy will now go on to compete in the British body building final, at Glasgow’s SECC on September 18 – which is not bad for a 45-year-old welder from Jura. He is an afficionado of natural body building, which rejects all drugs and relies instead on a high-protein natural diet perhaps enhanced with healthy supplements, such as whey protein shakes.

To compete in natural body building, all finalists are required to take a lie-detector test proving they have had no drugs in their system for 10 years. As if that wasn’t enough, all class winners also face an immediate drug test after the event.

For his part, Andy combines his diet and supplements with regular gruelling workout sessions at the Glencairn Gym in Stevenston

Speaking of his recent victory, he told the Irvine Herald: “This was by far the biggest win of my career and now I’m looking forward to going for the British title in front of the Scottish fans.”
